When we were coming up with this candied bacon recipe we knew our smoked jalapeño hot sauce would be the perfect ingredient since it is made with real Canadian maple syrup giving it that sweetness with just enough heat.
There are few things to consider when making smoked maple candied bacon. The first is of course: the bacon. Get your hands on a thick cut with an even spread of meat and fat. Some places even sell naturally smoked bacon that’ll intensify this recipe even more.
Our biggest tip when making candied bacon is to always make sure to watch the bacon when it gets near the end of your cooking time so that the sugar doesn’t burn. The trick is to let the sugar caramelize but not over cook the bacon. If you’re feeling like you want extra sweetness, add some real maple syrup drizzle over top of your candied bacon.
- Smoke Show Jalapeño Hot Sauce
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Spread Smoke Show Jalapeño Hot Sauce all over the bacon strips.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, salt & pepper together. Add a generous amount of the rub to the bacon.
- Bake at 350 degrees on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil for 10 minutes.
- Flip sides and repeat with hot sauce and rub. Bake until golden brown.
