Mediterranean food is healthy but also delicious. The Mediterranean diet promotes the consumption of healthy fats and homemade stuff, which we love. That’s what this recipe embodies. We’re showing you a simple way to make homemade avocado hummus, and what to pair it with to get the best open faced toast you’ll probably ever have.
HUMMUS:
The biggest step of this recipe is the making of homemade hummus. Don’t be intimidated, homemade hummus is incredibly easy to make, and so much better than the store bought stuff. All you need for the avocado hummus is avocado (duh), chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lime juice, olive oil, and some salt. You simply bend it up in a food processor, and voila, it’s ready to be eaten.
We have a few tips to get the best hummus possible. The first step is to make sure the chickpeas are drained and rinsed before using them in your hummus. If you want to take an extra step to make it even more gourmet, we would recommend cooking the chickpeas before adding them to the processor. This will add even more flavour to the hummus, which is always a good idea. Lastly, we suggest a slow pour in of olive oil into the processor. This will ensure that the hummus is smooth and perfectly blended.
TOPPINGS:
The toppings of this toast are what really make it pop. With the layer of hummus and fresh ingredients placed on top, it’s unforgettable. Peeled, thinly ribboned cucumber pairs with goat cheese, fava beans, and dill. The final step is the drizzle of Smoke Show Jalapeno Hot Sauce which gives this toast a perfect kick. This recipe is sure to be a hit.
